How It Works

Medication sensors

At the center of Asthmapolis are medication sensors that reliably determine the time and location when an inhaler is used, and then send that information to a remote server.

Our goal is to make the sensors as small, lightweight and easy-to-use as possible. We’re continually improving the sensor to better meet the needs of people with chronic respiratory disease, and to test and take advantage of promising developments in technology.

Mobile applications and telephony

With the Asthmapolis mobile application, you can map and track asthma symptoms, triggers, and use of rescue and controller medications, and other important events from any phone with a web browser. You can choose to receive text message reminders when you forget to use controller medication, and review streamlined versions of your asthma map and charts on your phone.

The Asthmapolis website uses maps, charts and tables to summarize and reveal your patterns of use and trends over time, and to help you identify locations that cause asthma to worsen. You can also add and edit information about your asthma, and explore asthma in your community and around you.

We’re looking for a limited number of people to help test the application. If you’re willing to pitch in, please get started here.
